Last Saturday’s event organised and sponsored by O’Three Dry Suits in aid of the UK Charity DepthTherapy raised £1862.56

Dr Richard Cullen, Chairman and Honoury Life Vice President opened the evening and gave an insight into what DepthTherapy was all about.  His presentation included a powerful and difficult to watch at times video by Gary Green.  It was a stark reminder of what the evening was all about.  Consciences were pricked and people who had already paid to attend, dug deep again and bought hundreds of raffle tickets.

A difficult one to follow, but Will Appleyard, author of ‘Discover UK Diving’ and ‘Dorset Dives’, succeeded despite a technical hitch at the outset of his talk, which meant he had to improvise and keep the 175 strong audience amused for five minutes before he was able to begin. He managed to keep his cool and his humorous behind the scenes look at his trials and tribulations in making ‘Dorset Dives’ went down very well. Will also donated £5 per book from sales of his book on the night. Thank you Will.  You were brilliant.

Then onto the main event. Paul Rose flew into the UK and traveled to Portland the night before especially to present one of his inspiring and thought provoking talks.  He had everyone hooked and laughing from the start as only he can.  He took us on a ‘hold on to your mouth piece’ journey which included some breathtaking footage of the National Geographic Pristine Seas Expedition, of which he is the expedition leader.

DepthTherapy we know is a charity close to Paul’s heart, but it took a plane, train and automobile epic of a journey to deliver on Saturday and all at Paul’s own expense.  Thanks to Paul, the evening was a sell out and his attendance was without question the reason why the evening was able to generate £1862.56 for Deptherapy.
