Every wreck is a time capsule. When we identify one, we’re not just exploring — we’re remembering the people and events that shaped it.
Dominic Robinson is a UK deep wreck diver with a passion for finding history where most people only see rusting metal. A former Army officer and helicopter pilot, Dom’s early career taught him the value of preparation, calm thinking, and teamwork.
After leaving the military, he managed the Joint Service Sub Aqua Diving Centre (JSSADC), where he trained military recreational divers to safely organise and lead expeditions. He mainly dives a Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) and is a qualified MOD 3 instructor passing on the skills needed to operate safely in deep, challenging environments.
Through his Deep Wreck Diver channel, Dom brings the public along for the ride, mixing high-quality dive footage with the detective work that turns a nameless wreck into a story of ships, crews, and history brought back to life. Videos he has published include some of the most iconic deep wreck dives around the British Isles including HMS Victory and RMS Lusitania.

Dom is part of the Darkstar and Gasperados technical dive teams who explore and identify historic wrecks in some of the most demanding conditions around the British Isles. He has been fortunate enough to be part of expeditions that have discovered some remarkable finds, including:
- USS Jacob Jones – the first US destroyer lost to enemy action (115 m)
- HMS Marmora – a 10,000 GRT liner operating as an auxiliary liner until torpedoed in 1918 (120m)
- SS Missanabie – a Canadian passenger liner sunk by U-boat in 1918 (100 m)
- HMS Jason – a Royal Navy warship lost in 1917 (93 m)
- HMS Negro – a WWI destroyer tragically sunk in 1918 (100 m)
Dom was part of the local dive team that confirmed the identity of the SS Nantes off the Devon coast after nearly 140 years of mystery, and he’s the legal owner of the WWI cargo ship SS Almond Branch — something that didn’t enamour him to his wife!
Dom is also one of the organisers for the popular Guz.tech technical diving conference.
