Christal Seas Scuba
Bristol Channel Diving Services Ltd (BCDS) was founded in 1995, by Maggie and Neil, as an inland commercial diving contractor operating in and out of the UK, with Neil having spent most of his working life offshore as a diver in the oil and salvage industry. Finding the inshore diving industry hard going and with ever increasing demands, there was a growing trend among friends and customers asking for recreational diving services. The best way forward was to move into the recreational market.
Evident that there was huge demand, BCDS started out with just a few key suppliers, like Apeks and Scubapro, and initially set up as a TDI and IANTD training facility but moved to SDI/TDI and PSAI, our current training agencies. 2002 saw BCDS move to our current location at the Timber Yard, a larger, more comprehensive diving facility, where our inhouse cylinder testing station was given formal IDEST approval and the workshop expanded it’s approved service centre certifications to include further manufacturers.
In 2003, BCDS was contracted by the then owners of Tidenham Quarry to put together a diving centre, now the well known NDAC, and subsequently stayed on during ownership changes before returning to the core business in Cardiff where we have been growing ever since.
So, where are we now? We have about 2000 square feet of dedicated workshop, gas blending and retail space with a passionate, dedicated team that works to be at the forefront of diving technology and practices. Still serving the recreational world, we have also worked to become an HSE approved diver training school and now cater to the commercial media diving sector, providing safety support and consultation for many water projects which you may have seen over the past few years.
We pride ourselves on our ability to find solutions to seemingly impossible problems, so do get in touch!
