When we got the phone call from Nick Hope saying that he was putting a team together to dive the Britannic back in 1998, our first thoughts were “it’s all been done before”. How wrong we were. Many firsts were achieved, records set, legends made and for O’Three it was a pivotal moment in our own history.
Some twenty one years later, to get a call from Rick Ayrton, to be asked if O’Three wanted to support the team he was assembling, there were no first or second thoughts. To be associated even in the smallest of ways with the continuing story of this beautiful ship is an honour.
As the old saying goes;
“If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants”.
Undoubtedly, Cousteau was the tallest, but all those who have dived and will dive the Britannic in the future are giants in our minds.
Rick and the team he assembled have added yet another incredible chapter to the story of HMHS Britannic.
To Rick and the team, thank you for allowing O’Three to once again stand on your shoulders.
